Oil paintings by C. F. Matta have been selected for inclusion in a number of (juried) art exhibitions including sole shows. He paints portraits (scientists who influenced him, family members, and friends). He also enjoys science-inspired abstract oil painting. Matta has been a Member of the International Organizing Committee of three conferences on Arts, Mathematics, and Science in Zagreb, Croatia, CroArtScia 2015, 2013, and 2011 organized by graph theoretical chemist Dr. Sonja Nikolić. Matta’s representation of a DNA base pair has won the Jury’s Prize for 2016 of “La preuve par l’image” of the “Acfas” (Associacion francophone pour le savoir).
